Blog Creation

When I agreed to create this blog I knew it would be a challenge for me. I am not normally creative when it comes to choosing background and catchy titles. I chose Awesome by Tina Chen for the background because I liked the fact that the words would not be in the typical black color. Instead, the writing is in white. Deciding to put a picture on the blog was another one of those decision that requires a lot of thought. Not only that, but I had to figure out how to get the picture on the site. Initially, when I added text to the blog, everything was on top of each other. I had to keep putting things on, then take them off. At one point, I thought of just deleting the entire thing and asking on of the other group member to create it. But, then I thought if I do that I will never get it and then I would never venture to create blogs when I become a teacher.

I believe blogs have a place in the schools so it is important that I learn as much as I can not only about creating blogs but, adding gadgets, text, inviting other to join the blog, give permissions, etc. Setting up the blog to give permissions was another task I had no clue about, somehow it worked because most of the group members have accepted the invitation. The invitation was setup using a link in the settings tab. The creator of the blog must enter the e-mail address of each person they are inviting to the blog. I will defer to one of the group members to describe this process.

After the blog is created the authors can start blogging. Behind the scene is where all of the "journaling" (writing) goes on. Similar to a word document the "new post" option allows the author to add their thoughts. There is an option for spell check as well. I like that part because when I am typing I just let the fingers keep moving. The font can be changed, hyperlinks can be added, and of course there is the ability to add pictures. Before publishing the post, I recommend previewing it. And lastly, remember to save your work, lest you lose it all.
